Cambodia has clearly breached the ceasefire agreement.
"The Royal Thai Armed Forces provided a summary of the border clash timeline on July 29, stating that Cambodia had clearly violated the ceasefire agreement. Gunfire was intermittently heard until morning, before the Commander of the 2nd Army Region engaged in discussions that resulted in a seven-point agreement."
On July 29, the Facebook page of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters released a summary of the border clash between Thailand and Cambodia that took place on July 29, 2025.
According to a report from the 2nd Army Region Operations Center, the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border was summarized as follows:

- Chong Bok Area: A clash involving small arms occurred at a hill west of Chong Bok.

- Ta Kwai Temple and Ta Muen Temple Areas: Both sides maintained military presence and control over these locations.
Unidentified UAV Activity: An unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was detected flying over military installations and airfields along various sections of the border. An investigation is currently underway to determine the origin of the UAV.
1. A ceasefire will be implemented.
2. No use of force against Thai civilians.
3. No additional deployment of troops.
4. No movement of troops in the area.
5. Thailand will facilitate the removal of injured or deceased Cambodian soldiers from the conflict zone.
6. Both sides agreed to establish a coordination team to resolve issues along the border under the responsibility of Thailand’s 2nd Army Region, with four representatives from each side. Thailand has appointed the Deputy Commander of the Suranaree Task Force as the head of its team.
7. All military units are instructed to reduce all forms of confrontation and await the outcome of the upcoming Thailand–Cambodia General Border Committee (GBC) meeting, scheduled for August 4, 2025, which will help define guidelines for peaceful coexistence moving forward.
On July 29, 2025, following a clash in the Sam Taet area, in response to Cambodian forces firing weapons into Thai territory, the 2nd Army Region successfully detained 18 Cambodian soldiers who surrendered. The operation was conducted by a special cavalry task force, and all 18 soldiers were taken into custody without any threats or violence. Two Cambodian soldiers were found dead, and one was injured and later transferred to a hospital for treatment.
Threats from Misinformation Campaigns
Thai Military Denounces False Ceasefire Claims
This morning, the Royal Thai Armed Forces formally rejected a statement by Major General Malis Socheata, spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defense, which claimed that Cambodian forces had completely ceased fire across all areas since midnight of July 28, 2025, and that no gunfire had been reported.
The Thai military countered this statement, confirming that Cambodian forces continued to fire into Thai territory even after the ceasefire agreement was made, and stated that clear evidence of these violations exists. The Thai side condemned the distortion of facts by the Cambodian spokesperson, asserting that it constitutes a fabrication that undermines international trust.
Thailand emphasized that it has never initiated violence, but retains the right to defend its sovereignty and its citizens, in line with international law.
At present, all detained Cambodian soldiers are being held in a safe area under Thai supervision, where they are receiving food, essential supplies, and medical treatment in accordance with international humanitarian standards. Thailand also confirmed that the bodies of the deceased soldiers will be returned to Cambodia following standard wartime procedures, and reaffirmed its commitment to the Geneva Conventions.
Threats from Misinformation Campaigns
Authorities have detected the dissemination of false information intended to mislead the international community in various forms. In response, all official Thai security agencies have released verified accounts of the situation, including translated summaries, to ensure that the global community receives accurate information.
